That's me ATM. Sick. Not sick ill, sick and tired......

On the whole a fairly good concept. We get our name known without having to advertise. BUT they (Groupon) take more than 50% of everything we earn. Which seems excessive.

We had, however, accustomed ourselves to that. We had done our maths and decided it was worth it after all.

We hadn't taken into account the clientele.

We had envisioned Wayne and Waynetta struggling to keep their home hygenic for all the Frogmellas. We would have been happy to oblige. What did we get? Lord and Lady Muck and their minging mansion. So far we have cleaned for 2 seperate customers with swimming pools in their gardens. And these are by and large the dirtiest people. They do not bat an eyelid as they point out their ballroom sized lounges covered in 'some sort of spill' then look down their nip and tucked noses at us when marks remain.

We clean carpets. We do not perform miracles.

No, actually we do perform the odd miracle, but these are always at home, on our time. Defintely not for rich bitches who have no conscience when we tell them we get paid £4 per room.

Today we had a different genre of  piss takers. The ones that like to play 'see if you can find me'. They give you an address which is usually a flat. You turn up to find a) half a dozen different buildings with no numbering system b) no such building or c) the building has a secure car park that you do not have access to. And you cannot park on the main road. We had all 3 of these today.

Steve went into meltdown.

I don't blame him.

Groupon Made my Boy Sick

So we were cleaning 5/6 different customer's carpets each day.

Some nice people.

Some chancers.

Some downright rude and abusive.

And got paid £11.60 per job. That is 3 carpets at each job. £11.60.

We looked forward to Saturday and the chance for a rest. We did the week's food shopping in the morning and returned home for lunch.

Steve felt cold. His tummy started aching. He was not well.

It is now Tuesday and he has been in bed pretty much since Saturday. He did manage to get up yesterday to see the GP, who wanted to test for Salmonella. WHAT? It was overwork in dire conditions plain and simple.....

Friday was a hot day. A very hot day. NOT ONE customer thought to even offer us a glass of water. We had 5 jobs to do, most of which were large rooms so were working against time to do them all. We had no time for lunch.

I am pretty certain that he was dehydrated. He could have picked up something on a carpet (cats/dogs/children) and not washed his hands (no mug to return to kitchen).

Maybe I am making excuses and we were slipshod.

The phone has not stopped ringing. We are advising customers of his illness and 99% are reasonable. But there was one who said it was most urgent that her carpets were cleaned in the next 2 weeks. I said I would be sure to pass the message on to my husband......
